On June 24th 2020, Maxim Integrated officially released the MAX31343 for mass production – Industry's Lowest Power MEMS-Based Temperature-Compensated RTC.
The MAX31343 is an I2C Real-Time Clock (RTC) with internal MEMS resonator offering extreme accuracy (±5ppm in a whole -40°C to +85°C temperature range) for low cost. It offers complete calendar functionality (seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, year and century with leap year compensation up to 2199) with incorporation of battery power input in case of main power interruption.

- Uncompensated programmable clock output
- Temperature-compensated programmable square wave output
- 64-Byte RAM for user data storage
The communication with most microcontrollers could be realized using I2C bidirectional bus. Wide supply voltage range (+1.6V to +5.5V) extends battery-backup run time. The MAX31343 is available in 2 package types - 8-pin WLP (2.1mm x 2.3mm) and 8-pin TDFN (4mm x 3mm) with operating temperature range from -40°C to +85°C.
The MAX31343 device could be used in wide area of applications including:

For customer evaluation, Maxim Integrated offers the MAX31343SHLD tool containing a PICO controller board based on the MAX31625 MCU and shield board based on the MAX31343 (Arduino/Mbed compatible).
