Maxim Integrated officially released the MAX22246 for mass production – a reinforced, fast, low-power, two-channel digital isolator.
The MAX22245 and the MAX22246 build a family of 2-channel reinforced, fast, low-power digital galvanic isolators using Maxim’s proprietary process technology. These devices transfer digital signals between circuits with different power domains, using as little as 0.76mW per-channel at 1Mbps (1.8V supply). All of the devices in the family feature reinforced isolation for a withstand voltage rating of 5kVRMS for 60 seconds (or 2121VPEAK continuously) .
The first device available in this family is the MAX22246C. It comes with two channels transferring data in opposite directions with maximum data rate of 200Mbps with default output state high. Other product variations - including devices with same direction data transfer (MAX22245x), 25Mbps max. data rate and default low state - will be released later on.
The MAX22245/MAX2246 devices support independent 1.71V to 5.5V supplies on each side of the isolator, making them suitable as level translators.
These isolators are available in an 8-pin wide-body SOIC package with 8mm of creepage and clearance. The package material has a minimum comparative tracking index (CTI) of 400, which gives it a group II rating in creepage tables. All devices of the family are rated for operation at ambient temperatures of -40°C to +125°C.

In order to evaluate the performance of these digital isolators, Maxim Integrated offers Evaluation Kits that provide a proven design. There are two types: MAX22246CWEVKIT# is fully assembled and tested board, populated with MAX22246CAWA+ device, while MAX2224XWEVKIT# is a generic board with unpopulated isolator IC, user have to populate it with digital isolator of MAX22245/MAX22246 family he selected.
