On June 23rd 2020, Maxim Integrated officially released the MAX14917 for mass production – an Industrial High-Side Switch.
The MAX14917 has eight high-side switches specified to deliver up to 700mA (min) continuous current per channel. Each switch has a typical on-resistance of 120mΩ at +25°C ambient temperature. The device is controlled by an SPI interface, which supports daisy chaining to ensure communication with multiple MAX14917 devices. Per-channel overload diagnostics is also provided through the SPI interface. Two watchdog timers provide an additional safety check of the master-to-device connectivity.
The MAX14917 also features a 4 x 4 LED cross-bar matrix that provides a visual indication of the channel status and overload conditions for each channel. It further comes with an integrated line-to-ground and line-to-line surge protection, providing robustness to the electrical stress as per IEC 61000-4-5 and requires only one TVS on VDD.
The MAX14917 is available in a compact 48-pin 6mm x 6mm FC2QFN package and supports -40°C to +125°C Operating Temperature Range.

For customer evaluation, Maxim Integrated offers the MAX14917EVKIT Evaluation Kit that could be connected to PC via USB2GPIO interface board. The corresponding Windows10-compatible GUI allows an individual control of all eight MAX14917 channels along with diagnostic information.
