Optical sensors are detecting light intensity levels to measure light quantity and translate it into a readable form. They are often used for contactless detection or positioning of parts and they can be internal or external. External sensors gather and transmit a certain quantity of light, as internal sensors are used to measure small changes in direction.
A humidity sensor (or hygrometer) senses, measures and reports water vapor.
The amount of moisture in the air to what the air can "hold" at that temperature is called relative humidity.
Relative humidity becomes an important factor when looking for comfort.
These components can be used in nearly every IoT environment, from the factory floor to agricultural fields. In manufacturing, temperature sensors can continually measure the temperature of a machine to ensure it stays within a secure threshold. On the farm, they are used to track the temperature of the soil, water, and plants to maximize output.
Biometric sensors measure metrics related to human physiological characteristics like the fingerprint, iris recognition, retina, palm veins, face recognition, DNA, and scent. Devices and sensors are any mechanical or electronic system used to enroll and capture raw biometric samples to digitize and convert them to a biometric template.
Capacitive Touch Sensors
In electrical engineering, capacitive sensing (sometimes capacitance sensing) is a technology, based on capacitive coupling, that can detect and measure anything that is conductive or has a dielectric different from air. Multiple sensors use capacitive sensing, including sensors to measure proximity, position, humidity or acceleration.
Magnetic sensors detect changes and disturbances in a magnetic field like flux, command or strength. Magnetic sensors are divided into two groups, those that measure the complete magnetic field and those that measure vector components of the field. The vector components are the individual points of the magnetic field.
