Normal Oscilloscopes are designed to measure a signal against ground. If you want to measure a signal which is not referenced to ground like a single cell of a battery pack, you would have three options:
- Use an expensive differential probe
- Dismantle the battery pack
- Measure the high and low signal independently and calculate the difference
With the PicoScope 4444 you have a four channel fully differential USB-Oscilloscope with an intelligent probe interface.
You can use one of Pico’s differential probes on a single channel which leads to a couple of advantages:
- Only one channel needed for a differential signal (or data of a whole CAN Bus)
